ART MUST DIE FOR THE SAKE OF PROFIT: Mathlovsky’s Defiant Manifesto

Mathlovsky (House of Lov, Stimular, Varispeed, Industrial Strength, Ohm Resistance), the innovative underground artist known for breaking boundaries in hard electronic dance music, has unleashed his most audacious work yet: ART MUST DIE FOR THE SAKE OF PROFIT. More than just an album, this release is a manifesto – a visceral, uncompromising challenge to the norms of the music industry and the listener alike.

This bold work is split into two digital EPs and unified as a full-length cassette release, merging destruction with creation.

  • YALDABAOTH, the first side, is a sonic assault. It harnesses the raw chaos of hardcore techno, industrial ferocity, and brooding half-time bass music. Relentlessly heavy and unapologetic, it’s a soundtrack for a burning world.
  • In stark contrast, ABRAXAS offers a meditative counterpoint. Its ethereal soundscapes guide the listener inward, evoking themes of self-reflection and rebirth. Together, the two sides embody mythological archetypes, exploring the eternal cycles of destruction and creation.

“ART MUST DIE FOR THE SAKE OF PROFIT isn’t just a title—it’s a question, a provocation,” Mathlovsky explains. “Is it sarcasm? A reality check? That’s for you to decide. This release is about connection, creativity, and questioning what art means in a world driven by profit.”

A Manifesto in Action
Mathlovsky’s challenge doesn’t stop at the music itself. Staying true to his fiercely DIY ethos, the album’s physical cassette—duplicated on his own imprint, HOUSE OF LOV—will not be sold. Instead, fans are invited to trade for it.

“Trades can be made through Bandcamp starting December 12, 2024,” he says. “Bring something meaningful—a piece of your own creativity, a treasured object, or something with a story behind it. Make it personal.”

In rejecting traditional commerce, Mathlovsky underscores the album’s central message: what is the value of art when profit is removed from the equation?

A Sonic Journey for Raving and Reflection
Known for crafting immersive soundscapes that blur the lines between underground styles, Mathlovsky has created a body of work that invites listeners to both rave and reflect. Whether it’s the feral intensity of YALDABAOTH or the introspective calm of ABRAXAS, the album demands engagement on every level—emotional, physical, and intellectual.
