Somatic Responses — brothers John and Paul Healy — remain based in their hometown in southwest Wales, where they continue to explore the outer edges of experimental electronic music. Across decades of work, their sound has consistently stood apart from the break‑heavy, jungle and DnB currents of their contemporaries, favouring dislocated beat structures, intricate arrangements and textural depth that sits closer in spirit to the acid‑laced braindance lineage of artists like Autechre and Aphex Twin.
Their music intertwines force and subtlety: fractured rhythms, detailed sonic design and moments of unexpected melody that reward deep listening as much as immersive settings. Over the years they have built an extensive catalogue of work on respected underground imprints such as Hymen Records, Ad Noiseam and Acroplane, marking them as long‑standing figures in the experimental electronic sphere.
In 2010 they launched their own label, Photon Emissions, as a platform for their own material and related explorations. Through Photon Emissions they have released a substantial body of work, including multiple full‑length albums, reaffirming their commitment to independent creative direction.
