Towering at over 6’7” Smyla brings a repertoire of relentless amen fury, a literal beast both physically and sonically. Experiencing his sets is like letting a sabre-toothed tiger loose in the rave — wild, ferocious, and leaving no one unscathed.
Influenced by hard and dark DnB masters like Limewax and Tech Itch, Smyla has collaborated with scene legends such as Gein and Bkey. His signature tearout sound makes him equally at home on breakcore, jungle, or DnB line-ups, as evidenced by releases on Jungle Syndicate, Amental, Our Fucking Jungle, and Murder Channel Records in Japan.
Since 2011, Smyla has developed his own label, Mute:8 Recordings, into a cornerstone of the dark DnB community. The label boasts a rich back catalogue of breakbeat fire and showcases many of the scene’s heroes, including The Sect and Lucio de Rimanez.
His recent releases on PRSPCT Records, and another appearance on Japan’s Murder Channel, has further cementing his reputation as a master of complex and brutal break edits and relentless fury. Smyla continues to bring his uncompromising energy to every set, proving that no matter the venue or line-up, he leaves a trail of devastation on the dancefloor.
